There is a robin with a white leg, hopping in my backyard. I used to think, "that bird is diseased.” But now it’s oh, white leg. He listens carefully for worms and gets a lot of them. Birds can swing worms quite fearlessly round their beaks, I’ve noticed. They assume a dominating stance, feet apart, and swing them round their beaks. This I never saw in the city.
Blue jays have a summery sound akin to buzz saws, which I heard both of, when camping long ago. Now they fly with large, damp nuts in their beaks.
