Reviews:

"Hits just the right quiet note of a chlorophyll-enriched, cricket-happy daydream." - San Francisco Bay Guardian

"Justine Herbert, AKA Fiji Mermaid, has a soothing, angelic voice, and when it is combined with her medieval-style instrumentation, the result is truly lovely. Though some of the lyrics are a bit twee, they stop short of seeming pretentiously so, and actually fit well with the music that backs them. Herbert has managed to create quite a pretty album." - Punk Planet

"Thanks Justine, this is pure balm for the soul.  Minimalistic and stripped down with a naked, honest voice and some simple instrumentation; just listen to the lovely instrumental, "I Had a Little Piggie." Eleven dreamy escapes. That Justine has grown and matured as an artist is quite obvious; this is beautiful.
"The sadness that she had on her Fiji Mermaid Ep some time back is still present, but a kind of joyfulness is also present." - Nephilius ezine

"Wow, is this ever different.  I don't even know what you'd call it genre-wise. Maybe soundtrack music.  Soundtrack for a dream, surely.  It's very atmospheric.  To me it's accompaniment. It is music that goes along with something, whether that is an activity, a dream, or just a session of deep thinking.
"The songs are simple, yet complex.  Simple because the melodies are semi-repetitious, yet there are several layers.  There are synthesizer/organ parts layered with echoey swooping vocals... It's really very lovely.
"The production is high-class and quite lush.  It sounds especially nice with headphones.
"If you want some atmospheric, dreamy background music, this is a great bet." - Collected Sounds

Review:

"This is a home-produced little CDR, containing 5 little pop ditties that work surprisingly well.  The recording quality is far from professional, and the instruments' sounds are sparse, but it is these characteristics that, instead of detracting from the whole experience, lend this album a cozy, personal feel.

"The music itself has a mysterious, detached feel to it, yet it rarely strays from the basic pop components.  '(You Shouldn't) Drift Away,' for example, is an eerie, twinkling piece that is far from the norm, yet catchy and enjoyable, nonetheless.   Other songs, like "Sunglasses Hide The Sun," lean more towards the experimental side of things, favouring a less accessible style, using vocals, keyboard, and drum machine, but still taking cues from basic pop teachings.

"These five songs have a very eerie feeling to them, that provides a spooky, mind-numbing musical trip for the listener.  ....each song relies heavily on repetition.  Despite this, the five songs are still worthwhile to listen to, especially if you're looking for something new and different.   Be warned, though, when the album finishes off with "Sylvia's Nicer," you may feel slightly detached from the world."    - Indieville
